About the Panama City Passion Play
The Story
With great joy and gratitude, The Panama City Passion Play is returning to our city in 2023 at the Gretchen Nelson Scott Fine Arts Center at Mosley High School. For 15 seasons, this magnificent production was experienced by over 70,000 people at the Marina Civic Center. With the 2018 hurricane devastating that facility and many lives and churches along with it, we began to pray and for the time search for the place where we might bring this gift back to the city.
We are thrilled for all that has been orchestrated to be presenting The Play again in 2023!
Through 15 years, the Panama City Passion Play remained a non-ticketed event – a presentation featuring a live orchestra, choir, cast and crew of over 200. Enjoyed and embraced by young and old alike, The Panama City Passion Play touched not only our city, but people in the surrounding communities, counties, the U.S. and other countries as well.
The Purpose
To creatively & authentically share the life changing birth, ministry, passion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The History
Doug White, Executive Producer/Director of the Play, serves as the Minister of Worship and Music at St. Andrew Baptist Church. With his passionate leadership team, they have seen this musical drama style Passion Play touch the lives of thousands of people, having performed it for 14 years in Miami, 7 years in Gainesville, and 15 years here in Panama City.
Each year’s production is fresh with new elements of creativity, story line, music, and theatrical effects. It is a joy to present a program of this quality and to see the positive impact it has had on so many lives.
We hope you will be a part of sharing in the excitement of this very special weekend!
